Name: Get Paid Without the Chase: The Practical Cash Flow Reset for Business Owners
Date: July 28, 2026
Time: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM NZST
Event Description:
Get Paid Without the Chase: The Practical Cash Flow Reset for Business Owners
Presented by Mel Curwood
A facilitated, highly interactive 3-hour workshop for business owners and leaders who deliver the work but carry the financial risk.
Participants work through practical frameworks and real-world scenarios to uncover payment pressure points, reduce non-payment risk, and strengthen cashflow structures.
Through guided learning, reflection, and group discussion, attendees gain clarity on their current processes and leave with clear, actionable next steps they can implement immediately.
the workshop covers:
  • why we got into business in the first place, and the reality that without cash flow, you don’t have a business
  • the kinds of situations that often bring people to this conversation — late payment, non-payment, feeling held to ransom, paperwork gaps, or simply wanting to better manage risk before something goes wrong
  • the pressure business owners can find themselves under, and the fact that these issues are often “never a problem until they suddenly are”
  • cash flow as the lifeblood of a business, and why protecting it matters so much
  • open and honest discussion around what people have been experiencing over the past few years
  • what actually causes non-payment, and the different scenarios sitting behind it
  • the idea of businesses being used as a free bank, and the cost of that — particularly to SMEs in New Zealand
  • what’s outside our control versus what is in our control
  • ways to move away from long-tail payment habits and toward processes that bring payments forward, reduce risk, and improve cash flow
  • the practical tools that matter, including due diligence, thinking like a credit provider, strong Terms of Trade, and clear communication around expectations, roles, responsibilities, and payment
The workshop is very much a facilitated session, so it’s not just about content delivery. It’s also about creating a space where business owners can have honest conversations about what they’re actually experiencing, learn from each other, and leave with useful perspective and practical next steps.
